In the Autumn Term every class visited St Mary’s Cathedral to conclude our work around The Year of Mercy.
Each class was invited to take a tour around the Cathedral. Guides told us about every part of this beautiful Roman Catholic Cathedral; it was a truly wonderful and spiritual experience.
We were all taken into the Cathedral through The Door of Mercy (Just like the beautiful doors of mercy which we had in our classrooms in school). We lit a candle and said prayers for our own intentions.
We looked at the beautiful stained glass windows; the old windows and the new windows about industry throughout the North East and the Little Sisters of the Poor.
We were all given the opportunity to try on the Bishops mitre.
This is a day which we will all remember for many years to come.
