RSPB Visit
Year 5 took part in the ‘Giving Nature a Home’ workshop last week, provided by the RSPB. The session involved exploring the different habitats around our school building and in the playground. The session began with a talk about what makes an effective habitat for animals; we discussed availability of food, water and shelter as being important factors in the development of a habitat.
Following this, we went outside to explore and map the habitats we have within our school grounds. We found a range of habitats such as mature trees, bushes and patches of soil. We even spotted some wildlife along the way! We discussed a plan to improve the space for nature in our grounds including removing litter, adding log piles and bird boxes. We really want to make a difference to wildlife in the grounds of St Lawrence’s!
