Y5 Visit Matfen Farm

On Wednesday 27th March Year 5 were lucky enough to visit Matfen Farm. We started the day by going to the lambing shed, where hundreds of pregnant ewes were ready to give birth. We were actually able to see one ewe give birth to two lambs with the help of Neil, one of the shepherds. It was amazing if a bit gory.

After lunch we got to explore the grounds of the farm. We went down to the pond and saw lots of wildlife, including four frogs. We got to feed the chickens, see the hen house and collect up the eggs. Then we had a look around the chapel and graveyard. The children hunted for their names on the gravestones and found another farm yard animal- a very bushy pig!
