Building Bridges in Year 2

Year 2 have been learning all about materials in their Science lessons this term.

We have been learning about the properties of materials which make them suitable for particular tasks.

Today we had a visit from Technology Tom who led a workshop in our class called Building Bridges.

We learnt all about paper and how we can make paper stronger.

Firstly we strengthened paper by rolling it carefully into strong tubes.

Tom then showed us how to make our rolls of paper stronger by joining them to each other using wooden rods.

We then worked together to make a bridge structure.

We all worked well together and there are definitely some budding engineers in Year 2!
