Wheely Fun Day

The Reception children have been taking an active part in the Walk to School Week and Clean Air Day. All week we have been trying to come to school without the car and we have taken part in a Daily Mile challenge each day too. However, today, we made a special effort to come to school with our bikes and scooters. We spent time decorating them this morning – the time and concentration the children spent on making their bikes look so amazing was incredible! Every child was fully involved in making their bike or scooter look special by tying on ribbon and tinsel, sticking on baubles and other decorations – our outdoor area has never been so sparkly! This afternoon we had chance to ride them in the big yard. It was a ‘wheely good day!’

Year 6 science visit

The children looked at the physics behind circus tricks – trying their hand at a couple themselves. For the finale the pupils were given complete freedom to come up with… Continue Reading

Year 2 visit the allotment.

Year 2 visited Wor Lotty yesterday.       .We enjoyed  tasting lots of different kinds of fruits and vegetables. We looked at the plants which we had planted last time that we were at the allotment.   We collected lots of ladybirds but we left them at the allotment at the end of the day! We also enjoyed wedding the paths in the allotment. We collected so many weeds! We are… Continue Reading

African Print workshop from the Laing Art Gallery

We worked closely with the artist; learning new artistic skills crucial to creating print inspired by Thomas Bewick’s designs. We took inspiration from African emblems, creating our own design and transferring it to make a stamp like print. These prints are… Continue Reading

Thornton Moor Farm

The Reception children went on an adventure to a farm in the middle of Northumberland today. It was a long journey but worth it for the experience the children got of the countryside and of a real working farm. The day was filled with new experiences: collecting pine cones and other interesting things in the… Continue Reading

Year 2 visited their penpals at Belsay School in Northumberland as part of our Geography curriculum this term.   We had a fantastic day with our friends from Belsay and had an exciting time playing in their outdoor area. We made some advice jars to take back to school and some fish. What an amazing day, we can’t wait to meet up with our friends again very soon.   Continue Reading

School Athletics Championships

Our school took part in the annual citywide Athletics championships at Monkton stadium on Tuesday 4 June 2019. While we were unable to retain our shield from last year, there were some excellent and highly notable individual and team performances. Billie Slasor (name given by permission) in particular ran a brilliant race to win the… Continue Reading
