Year 1’s Visit to the Shipley Art Gallery

In Year 1 this term we have been learning about sculpture. The children wanted to find out more so we booked a trip to Shipley Art gallery and had so much fun!

The children spent the morning finding out about the famous sculpture, ‘The Angel of the North’ by the artist, Antony Gormley. They then went on to create their own in groups and were given the chance to place their sculptures in the art gallery like a real exhibition.

After a morning of excitement and hard work the children were ready for lunch which they had outside in the sunshine.

During the afternoon session, the children made mosaic tiles using clay.

Here are some of our finished products….

……..the children are sure you will agree that they look fantastic!!!!
