On 20th October Year 2 visited Beanley Farm near Alnwick in Northumberland.
We were invited to visit this farm by an organisation called The Countryside Trust, an organisation who organise visits to working farms for inner city schools.
Beanley Farm is owned by Lord Carr Ellison and managed by his assistant Victoria Hogg. Vicky and Mr Thompson from the Countryside Trust acted as guides to Year 2 during their visit.
Throughout the day Year 2 were involved in a variety of activities including looking at crops in the field, meeting a shepherd and his flock of sheep, sitting in a tractor, visiting a huge grain store and taking a nature walk.
This was such an interesting day despite the rain! We all learnt so much about life on a farm at harvest time.
