Dissecting Lilies in Year 5!
As part of our Science topic on Plants, Year 5 were given the opportunity to dissect lilies. We have been learning about reproduction in plants and found out that a flower has both male and female parts. All living things need to make more of themselves so that their species does not die out. Reproduction is the process by which new living things are made.
We dissected a lily to identify all of the parts of a flower, particularly the male and female parts. We labelled and measured the different parts and used a magnify glass to study them closer!
