KS2 Choir Performance at Newcastle Cathedral
On Tuesday 18 November, 17 KS2 pupils took in a special performance at Newcastle Cathedral. As part of an event organised by Newcastle Music Service, we were invited to perform 4 different songs along with 5 other Newcastle schools. The choir sang confidently and beautifully. The whole cathedral was packed with about 400 parents, carers and other pupils. Despite the crowd, the were very few nerves! A teacher from another commented on how beautifully everyone sang.

Year 1 - visit from author Kate Rolfe
Year 1 had a special visit from the author Kate Rolfe. She told the children her journey of becoming an author and said that it all began with her love for drawing and then she could add words that match with the pictures. Kate is dyslexic so it was lovely to hear about her story, her experience writing a story and how words appear on a page for her. Rainbow Room trip to Ouseburn Farm
We were excited to travel by minibus to the farm. Once inside, we enjoyed exploring all the different animals including pigs, goats, sheep, hens, ducks, rabbits, snakes, guinea pigs and many, many more! We all completed an animal treasure hunt and counted how many of each animal we could see. We listened carefully to the noises the animals make and identified which sounds belonged to which animals. Remembrance Day 2025
St Lawrence's took part in a Remembrance Day assembly this morning. All pupils were given a paper poppy which was purchased by school. All pupils also had the opportunity to buy items from the Poppy Appeal, including pencils, bag chains and snap bands. In their French lesson this week, Year 6 learned how France celebrates Remembrance Day, and that they use a mix of poppies and cornflowers. Our wreath reflects the two colours. Enchanted City Workshop - Year 6
On Monday 10 November, 15 Year 6 pupils were given the opportunity to attend a special workshop at The Lighthouse Project. It is all part of the Enchanted City project run by Newcastle City Council where there will be a variety of art installations across the city. The pupils created paper artwork, inspired by the artist Kate Eccles. They made feathers, birds and stars, all with the view to creating shadow pictures.

Y6 meet royalty
<p>Some lucky children in Year 6 had the chance to meet TRH the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Their Royal Highnesses were visiting the Veterans Launchpad charity in Byker, who work with veterans of the armed forces.
