Year 1 DT - Structures
Year 1 have had a fantastic time designing and making a pencil pot to share with their partner. They each created a design and decorated one half of a tube each. Year 1 demonstrated great teamwork, patience and independence as they made their pencil pots. We secured our pencil pots with tape to make sure they were stable to hold 2 pencils. The children were delighted with their achievements and success.

Nursery Trip to the Fire Station
Our nursery children had a fantastic time on our visit to the local fire station! We were lucky enough to explore the station and learn all about the important work firefighters do to keep us safe. The children enjoyed trying on real firefighter PPE, sitting in the water rescue boat, and even having a turn using the fire hose. Natural Art in Reception
Our Reception children have been exploring patterns in nature, looking closely at spirals on snail shells and rings in tree trunks. Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, they used natural materials like leaves, sticks, and stones to create their own patterns outdoors. The children showed fantastic creativity, making repeating patterns and spiral designs while working together and sharing ideas. A Magical Moment in Nursery

Year 3 - The Mystery of Tutankhamun
Year 3 had a great time performing ‘The Mystery of Tutankhamun’ for their class assembly. The play told the story of the boy king Tutankhamun, from his rule as pharaoh in Ancient Egypt to the discovery of his tomb. This showcased what the children had learnt about Ancient Egypt in History and Art. The performance also helped the children develop their oracy skills, focusing on speaking and listening.

School Council helps plant Tree of Hope

Year 1 Get Creative with Sentences: Exploring the Word ‘And’!

Young Scientists at Work: Year 1 Test Materials to Find the Best Waterproof Boat!
In science, the children have explored what waterproof is and were tasked with an investigation to find out what material would be best to make a waterproof boat for the three little pigs. We tested the different material in water amd decided which ones were waterproof and which ones were not. As a class we wrote up our findings and the children enjoyed being scientists.

Year 5 Take Maths Outdoors: Exploring Decimals in the Spring Sunshine!
Year 5 have been doing maths outside in this glorious spring weather. We were each given a digit ( some of us were also a decimal point) and had to meet up with 2 other peers to become a decimal point number. We then had to find another group and decide which number was biggest or smallest. We then made a giant number line across the yard with our numbers.

Watching Our Seeds Begin Their Journey in Nursery!
The children have loved getting their hands messy as they carefully planted their seeds into pots. We talked about what all plants need to grow — sunlight, water, soil, and time — and the children have already shown fantastic care and responsibility when looking after them.

Book poster competition winners
To finish off our World Book Day celebrations, all children were invited to create posters which promote reading in school. After lots of excellent entries from across the school, one winner was chosen from each class. There was then an overall winner who's poster will be displayed in all classrooms and libraries. Each class winner won a brand new book and a special book tote bag to take it home in. Our overall winner also won a £20 book token!

World Book Day
World Book Day became ‘Wild Book Day’, when St Lawrence’s Catholic Primary gave the annual celebration of reading a novel twist. Caterpillars arrive Nursery
This week brought some very exciting news to nursery — our caterpillars have arrived! The children were full of curiosity as they gathered round to take a closer look. They were fascinated by their tiny movements and enjoyed talking about what they could see. We can’t wait to watch them grow and change over the next few weeks. The children are already asking lots of questions, and we’re looking forward to learning more together about the life cycle of a caterpillar.

Year 5 - Trip to the cinema to see the new movie GOAT!
Year 5 won the whole school attendance prize again this month, so had another trip to the cinema to see the new movie GOAT! The competition is on for this month's highest attendees in school- we'll definitely be trying hard to win again, these monthly cinema trips are very fun!

Year 6 - Art - Georgia O'Keeffe
Year 6 have completed their projects based on the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. These wonderful pictures were produced in groups of 2 and three - really taking on board the ideas of the famous American artist. They aimed to embrace her love of flowers, colour, size and the ability to immediately draw the attention of an audience. Pupils sketched out the flowers before using vivid pastel colours to create some remarkable pieces.
