Billie Makes History in Cross Country

The Newcastle Schools Cross Country Event took place on Tuesday 4 April and history was made as we had our first ever winner of the city wide event.

Billie Slasor of Year 4 won the under 9 event in a dramatic sprint finish, holding off the challenge of a number of competitors after leading from a long way out. Mrs McLeod, our cross country coach, was delighted with Billie and the whole school is so proud of this amazing achievement as Billie was first out of over 120 entrants.

The rest of our team also did themselves proud and some surprised themselves at how well they did. Special praise is due to them and also to Mrs McLeod who works the children very hard during their running clubs which take place three times per week.
