Year 5 took part in a liturgy to celebrate our RE topic, Life Choices. Over the topic, we have thought about love and how we show it to others. Jesus said the greatest commandment of all is to love one another. We can show love through our words and our actions. We invited our loved ones along to share this special time together.
We listened to a reading from Corinthians 13: 4 – 8 about love and its importance.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.
We took a moment to think carefully about what love means to us. We passed a candle around and shared with each other what we think love is. Then we listened to some bidding prayers.
As part of the topic, we made thank you cards to the people who we love. We wanted them to know how grateful we are for them and how much they are loved.
At the end of the liturgy, we reflected on the love we have for other people and thought about how we can show our love to others.
