Today we celebrated a wonderful final Mass of the school year, in honour of both our patron St Lawrence and our Year 6 leavers. Year 6 led us in prayer, reminding us of Lawrence’s incredible strength in the face of hardship, and his understanding that the sick and needy were the real treasures of the church. We also prayed for all the school staff, especially the members of staff who are leaving us this year.
Today’s Gospel reading was particularly appropriate for our Mass, reminding us all that whatever difficulties we face in life, we can always bring our challenges to God:
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
