Technology Tom Y4

Yesterday, Y4 had so much fun investigating states of matter with the help of Technology Tom. First, Ike and Selena helped Tom to classify different types of solids such as, wood, glass, cloth and metal. Next, we use our sense of touch to identify metals from a box filled with various types of solids. We then moved on to liquids and discovered how liquids don’t have a shape. They take the shape of whatever container they are placed in. Finally, we investigated gasses. Y4 went outside to have a go at the ‘coke and mentos’ experiment. We discovered that when the mentos hit the coke, bubbles immediately form covering the surface of the candy. It literally pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast when all the gasses are released.
