Bringing WWII alive for Year 6

History man Richard came in with dozens of WWII objects and information to help us really understand what life was like for people living in Britain at the time.

We looked at sources, from identity cards through to work objects, of three members of the Palmer family from Gateshead.

The father was an Air Raid Warden, the mother had a baby to look after and the child was evacuated to Northumberland.

Year 6 were able to handle the objects, trying on the clothes, playing with toys and Mr Jeffrey was allowed to use the Air Raid siren!
