Farewell to Father Shaun

Today we bid a fond farewell to Father Shaun, who is leaving our parish. Our First Holy Communion children from Years 5 and 6 planned a special Celebration of the Word to thank Father Shaun for his time with us and to wish him well in his journey forward. We took as our text Romans 10:9-18 “How wonderful is the coming of messengers who bring good news!” 

At the close of the celebration each class gave Father Shaun and we concluded by saying the following collective prayer:

We praise and thank you Lord for all that is ending and beginning.

We thank you for all Father Shaun has been to us.

We entrust Father Shaun into your loving care, knowing that you are always with him on the way.

Shield and protect him from harm and anxiety.

Grant him the courage to meet the future and the grace to go forward in service to you.
