Book poster competition winners
To finish off our World Book Day celebrations, all children were invited to create posters which promote reading in school. After lots of excellent entries from across the school, one winner was chosen from each class. There was then an overall winner who's poster will be displayed in all classrooms and libraries. Each class winner won a brand new book and a special book tote bag to take it home in. Our overall winner also won a £20 book token!

World Book Day
World Book Day became ‘Wild Book Day’, when St Lawrence’s Catholic Primary gave the annual celebration of reading a novel twist. Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 at our school took part in the international event, with activities all themed around a particular story. “This year, the whole school was reading Wild Book Day by Karl Newson and James Brown,” explained our Head of School, Mrs Robson. Stay and Play in Nursery Class
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day with a very successful Stay and Play session. The children were thrilled to welcome their families into school and proudly showed them all the things they enjoy playing with each day. Year 5 - Trip to the cinema to see the new movie GOAT!
Year 5 won the whole school attendance prize again this month, so had another trip to the cinema to see the new movie GOAT! The competition is on for this month's highest attendees in school- we'll definitely be trying hard to win again, these monthly cinema trips are very fun!

Christmas Craft Day
Everyone in school has taken part in craft day today. All of the children have created different cards, calendars and decorations. All pupils have really enjoyed spending time in different classrooms and their crafts are beautiful! They will go home ready to decorate their own houses over the Christmas holidays.

KS2 Carol Singing at Care Home
Our KS2 choir were invited to Lawson House Care Home on Monday 15 January. They performed a variety of Christmas Carols and songs to the residents. Their singing was so brilliant that they were treated to a hot chocolate afterwards! All of residents were very impressed and moved with the singing. Christmas Card Competition Winners
Byker Trust invited all pupils to take part in their annual Christmas card competition. All pupils created their own cards and they were sent to Bijoli at Byker Trust to choose a winner from each class. The standard was incredibly high, but Bijoli and her team were able to pick their winners. Bijoli came to school to announce the winners and give them each a special Santa hat and advent calendar. Children in Need
Our School Council organised a day of fun to celebrate Children in Need. The children were invited to come into school dressed in their own clothes, Pudsey clothes, spots or pyjamas for a small donation. Lots of fun was had by all in raising money for this very important charity.

Year 6 paint like Turner

Y6 meet royalty
<p>Some lucky children in Year 6 had the chance to meet TRH the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Their Royal Highnesses were visiting the Veterans Launchpad charity in Byker, who work with veterans of the armed forces.
