Back in April, the school took part in ‘Earth Day’ where we looked at the effects that plastic was having on our planet. Following this, Year 3 and Year 5 had a visit from Blyth Wildlife Rescue, who came to talk to us about the effects that plastic and other litter can have on our wildlife. They told us about some of the animals they had rescued. Some of these animals had been trapped in plastic or had eaten it, which is really harmful for them. We talked about how to responsibly dispose of our rubbish and other ways that we could help, for example picking up litter from the street.
In our RE ‘Stewardship’ topic, we have also been thinking about how we can respect the environment and become a steward of God’s creation. We therefore thought this was a perfect opportunity to get into the local community and pick up litter, to both respect our environment and protect our wildlife.
