Year 4 had an opportunity to take part in a democratic vote – Ancient Greek style – this afternoon. The Athenian citizens (who were all male) voted with pebbles to decide whether non-citizens (girls and children) would be allowed to vote.
We then all voted (girls and boys) using modern ballot papers on which form of democracy was better – the Ancient Athenian or modern British style democracy.
The result was surprisingly close!
