<p>We had an amazing trip to Mr Thompson’s farm, Broxfield, near Alnwick. We started off our trip by exploring our way through his brand new pumpkin patch. <p>Year 6 had a fantastic morning looking at WWII thanks to &#8216;The History Bloke&#8217;. The children had the opportunity to handle lots of original artefacts from the period and work out what some of the more mysterious items would have been used for. Richard also gave them the chance to discuss what life would have [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a fantastic day at the Discovery Museum today. We took part in two workshops. Firstly, a workshop all about The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead. Fran, our leader at the museum, told us the story and we acted it out with noises and actions. We even took part in a puppet show [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 enjoyed a day trip to Beamish open museum, where we learned what life was like during and after the Victorian Era. We had a Victorian school experience where a very strict teacher showed us how to write by dipping into ink. We practised our handwriting, our times tables, recited poetry and drew a [&hellip;]</p>

<p>To celebrate Earth Day 2024, we discussed the importance of looking after our environment and made pledges to reduce the amount of plastic we use. We looked at the work of the artist, Michelle Reader and how she uses recycled materials to create her sculptures. We then made our own monster sculptures using recycled materials.</p>

<p>We had a wonderful Now Press Play experience today! We ventured into one of the continents we have studied – The Arctic! We had to think about survival and thought about how it was different to our own continent of Europe.</p>

<p>To further our learning on rocks and fossils, Year 3 visited the Great North Museum. There we saw an amazing selection of rocks and gemstones. This reminded us of our learning of metamorphic rocks and how they are created. We saw dinosaur fossils and thought about how they were created. We even got time to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in geography we have been drawing maps of the classroom. To do this we used a key with symbols representing the different areas of the classroom. These included: home corner, reading corner, red table, blue table, green table and teacher’s desk. We began by moving large versions of the symbols around on the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have had a fabulous time taking part in The Linking Project. We linked up with friends from Belsay Primary School in Northumberland. We enjoyed meeting with our friends by zoom throughout the year and in person at the Laing Art Gallery. The project has been exciting and interesting and has had so many [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Y4 met architect Imogen today, who is completing her project to redesign Hadrian&#8217;s Square in Byker as a new Roman Forum. As well as learning all about what an architect does, and how to become one, the children also had a chance to design their own stalls for the forum. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The Nursery children had a great time celebrating our new King and Queen. They enjoyed learning about our Royal Family and taking part in lots of &#8216;royal&#8217; activities, including pretending to be the King! They made their own crowns and we had a picnic and played party games. &#8216;God save the King!&#8217;</p>

<p>Year 2 concluded their History Unit about The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead by visiting The Gateshead Heritage Centre. &nbsp; We learnt all about how and where  the fire began. We crossed the River Tyne via the Tyne Bridge and looked at all of the bridges across the Tyne. We crossed onto the Newcastle [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We mixed baking soda, vinegar and red food colouring to create an active erupting volcano in our classroom today! Although real volcanoes do not contain any of these ingredients, it created a similar effect as pressure built and an eruption occurred!</p>

<p>Year 4 had an opportunity to take part in a democratic vote &#8211; Ancient Greek style &#8211; this afternoon. The Athenian citizens (who were all male) voted with pebbles to decide whether non-citizens (girls and children) would be allowed to vote. &nbsp; We then all voted (girls and boys) using modern ballot papers on which [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. We experienced a Victorian lesson in the Beamish Board School where we had to work completely in silence! Next we walked into the town and visited the terraced [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 enjoyed a fabulous trip to The Discovery Museum today. In the morning we had an exciting time in The Science Exhibition trying out all of the wonderful experiments. We all enjoyed the lovely lunches that Gillian made for us. In the afternoon we took part in a History workshop about the Great Fire [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class loved our focus book Handa&#8217;s Surprise! As part of our learning the children worked in groups to sequence the story, developing their team work and comprehension skills: The children had the opportunity to taste the seven delicious fruits in the story: Using this experience the children were then able to write sentences to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a fantastic afternoon taking part in another Now Press Play experience. In today’s experience we were a worker in Victorian England. Conditions and pay for workers we so unfair that we decided to go on strike!</p>

<p>We had so much fun yesterday creating our own Stone Age Cave art. We looked at examples from real Stone Age caves and thought about the different art materials Stone Age people would have had to use, they definitely would of made use of anything they had! We used oil pastels to get different colours [&hellip;]</p>
