Chinese New Year

As part of our work on ‘Celebrations’ the Reception children find out about the celebration of Chinese New Year. We had a workshop led by the staff from the Durham Museum service. He helped us reenact the story of the Great Race from which all the different animals from the Chinese Zodiac are taken. We made shadow puppets and learned about the ceremonial lion dance and other customs. Taking part in our own lion dance was a highlight of the day.
