Fire Safety in Year 6

During Safety week, Year 6 looked closely at Fire Safety.  We researched the events surrounding the recent Grenfell Tower Fire; the causes and implications for fire safety in the future.  We drew up our own Fire Safety Plan to share with our families, looking at how to prevent fires in our homes and how to escape if there is one.  The Chief Fire Officer from Byker Community Fire Station came in to see us and we were able to question him on different ways to prevent fires.  We were pleased to find that they offer fire safety checks to all homes and provide smoke alarms free of charge!
