Today Year 3 displayed excellent behaviour and respect during our Remembrance Service lead by Mrs Maxwell with music from Miss McDonnell. We also enjoyed making our own poppies this week which we decorated using oil pastels. They will be part of a whole school display! Miss O’Hare brought in a special painting of her great uncle, John James O’Hare and his death penny medal which has been in her family since the first world war. The medals do not say the rank of the soldier as they are all equal for their bravery. John James died in Ypres in Belgium, near Flanders Field which inspired the famous poem by John McCrae.
