Y6 Evacuated to Beamish Home Farm

As part of our WW2 topic this term, Year 6 went back in time to find out what it was like to be evacuated from a city to the countryside during the war.

We were met by Farmer George and put straight to work, making carrot cookies, putting up the blackout on the windows and looking after the animals.

We also participated in some training in preparation for an invasion.

Back at school, this fantastic real-life experience stimulated the most amazing story writing.  Check out some of our stories here…
