Year 2 visit Broxfield Farm!

We had an amazing trip to Mr Thompson’s farm, Broxfield, near Alnwick. We started off our trip by exploring our way through his brand new pumpkin patch. It was fascinating to see the seeds inside a pumpkin and to find out how they grow. We then visited the cows in their shed. We learnt that mother cows are cows, father cows are bulls and baby cows are calves. Mr Thompson told us all about how they grow, how their mother’s feed them milk and how eventually they are weaned so they can be independent and eventually sold so we can have their protein meat. Mr Thompson also told us about how wheat could be make into bread and we discussed the different food groups.
