<p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. We experienced a Victorian lesson in the Beamish Board School where we had to work completely in silence! Next we walked into the town and visited the terraced [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Technology Tom visited school today to teach us about cam mechanisms and to help us create our own models. He introduced the topic by giving us a range of practical demonstrations, which showed how levers, pivots, cams and followers worked.  We learnt that there are lots of different types of cam, including egg and snail cams, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We really enjoyed designing and making cards for the special ladies who look after us. We used basket cut outs as a base, adding paper flower buds in complimentary colours to create a bouquet. We used pearls as well as pink and silver diamante jewels to add sparkle to our cards. Happy Mother&#8217;s Day to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Wednesday, Year 3 had a fabulous workshop with local Liturgical Dance Company, More than Dance. We learnt a beautiful Liturgical Dance to The Risen Christ (Doxology) by Margaret Becker, Kristyn Getty and Joanne Hogg. This piece combined flowing dance sequences and British Sign Language. <p>As part of World Book Day celebrations, KS2 explored four different books during the day.  Miss Davidson chose the Dam, a picture book based on a true story about the building of Kielder Reservoir. We started the session by discussing change in our lives and how it can be both a good and bad experience.  [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today, Year 2 and Year 3 had their final rehearsals with Miss Oldfield and performed in the hall for an audience! Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 watch us perform the pieces we have been learning, ‘Dona Nobis Pacem,’ and ‘Come Ye Sons of Art.’ It was a wonderful opportunity to perform for our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week, Year 4 Nurture Group have been working with local gardeners to plant Spring bulbs in the Key Stage 1 and Reception garden. Whilst planting snowdrops, the children were learning about the different parts of a plant and their functions. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine! &nbsp;</p>

<p>For our new RE topic, we are thinking about Listening and Sharing in relation to the Eucharist. To begin our topic, the children worked in groups to perform the story of ‘Stone Soup.’ We discussed the themes of the story and the advantages of listening and sharing.</p>

<p>We have had a fantastic time learning about Chinese New Year! We learnt about the country of China, and located it on a map of the world. We learnt about Chinese culture, played with Chinese Tangrams (jigsaws) and finally learn about the classic story of the Race of the Animals. We had so much fun [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Reception have enjoyed exploring our key text Handa&#8217;s Surprise. They used cooking tools to prepare the fruit themselves and loved tasting the fruit! They then used the experience to complete some fantastic writing to describe the fruit! Well done Reception!</p>

<p>In Nurture Group this half term we are learning about nocturnal animals. To start off the topic we have been remembering what we know about the phases of the moon. This week, Year 5 nurture group practised their map work to find hidden envelopes in the school garden. Each envelope contained one of the phases [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 and Year 3 have been lucky enough to take part in the Newcastle Cathedral Schools Singing Project this half term. Every Tuesday, a music specialist from the Cathedral will visit school to deliver a thirty minute singing session in class. We welcomed Miss Oldfield, a chorister from the cathedral to lead us in [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Tuesday 14th December, our fabulous KS2 Choir and Orchestra performed in the Grainger Market in Newcastle city centre. We performed a twenty minute set twice, with a short break in between. Our KS2 Choir is made up of children from Year 5 and Year 6, and our KS2 Orchestra is made up of children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>&nbsp; In Year 4 and 5 Nurture Group, we have been using watercolours to paint Autumn sunsets. The results are absolutely stunning! Well done Nurture Group!</p>
