This week we explored circles and triangles through the inspiring work of artist Wassily Kandinsky. The children loved creating their own Kandinsky-style art using loose parts and even experimented with 3D art. It was fantastic to see them noticing shapes in their designs and talking about how circles and triangles can make beautiful patterns.

Enchanted City Workshop - Year 6
On Monday 10 November, 15 Year 6 pupils were given the opportunity to attend a special workshop at The Lighthouse Project. It is all part of the Enchanted City project run by Newcastle City Council where there will be a variety of art installations across the city. The pupils created paper artwork, inspired by the artist Kate Eccles. They made feathers, birds and stars, all with the view to creating shadow pictures.

The Big Draw
On Thursday 6 November, pupils in Year 4, 5 and 6 and took part in the Big Draw at The Lighthouse Project. The Big Draw is a charity that champions drawing and creativity as a way to bring people together. Ringtons are a sponsor for this year’s festival, alongside the National Trust and a few others. Reception Autumn Experience at the Lighthouse Project
Reception children had a magical afternoon exploring autumn during a special experience at The Lighthouse Project. Prehistoric Art in Year 3
Inspired by cave paintings from the Stone Age, Year 3 have enjoyed creating Prehistoric art. They began by drawing the outline of an animal using charcoal. Next, they created a Prehistoric palette by making paints out of natural materials such as grass, leaves, mud, tea, beetroot and raspberries. Finally, they used the palette to paint their animals.
