<p>Since we returned to school after Christmas, we have been looking at Performance Poetry in Year 2. We have rehearsed, discussed an annotated a variety of performance poems. All children have had a chance to perform the poems in class, either in groups, solos or with a partner. It has been a different and challenging [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed a fabulous story writing workshop. We worked with a team of writers, illustrators, directors and playwrights to create our own story. We had such a wonderful time and impressed the editor! He even published our book!</p>

<p>Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 children were lucky enough to visit Seven Stories for World Book Day. They learned all about writing funny stories and writing one word poems. The workshop was led by Burhana Islam and Joseph Coelho, the Children&#8217;s Laureate. All of the pupils were excellent ambassadors for the St [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in Year 1, we have been inspired by our story about the three little pigs to decorate biscuits. We began by discussing instructions on how to decorate a biscuit. To do this we used the sequencing words: first, next, then and finally. We then followed our instructions to decorate the biscuits. Following this [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have been reading, &#8216;The True Story of the Three Little Pigs&#8217; so in Science we decided to test materials that would be suitable for the three little pigs as they made their houses. We talked about the properties of different materials and decided that the jackets would need to be flexible, durable and waterproof. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last week, Year 3 and Year 6 teamed up for a new reading buddy system. Twice a week, the Year 6&#8217;s will be helping the Year 3&#8217;s with their reading. They are getting lots of practise at blending unfamiliar words, retelling their story and practising high frequency words. So far, Year 3 have really enjoyed [&hellip;]</p>

<p>KS1 have spent this half term learning and rehearsing the Christmas play, ‘The Little Red Robin.’ Every child had a role, either with lines to learn, a dance to perform and songs to sing. <p>Over the last few weeks, the Nursery children have thoroughly enjoyed looking after our caterpillars and watching them transform into butterflies! . They have observed the changes and learned all about the life cycle from an egg to a butterfly. We have read lots of non fiction and fiction books to help us, including &#8216;The [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Monday 3rd July, KS2 were very lucky to have the author James Harris join them for the day. The day started with an assembly and then Years 3, 4 and 5 took part in a workshop run by James. The children learnt about what it takes to become a successful author and illustrator and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 had a wonderful trip to Seven Stories this morning!It was a trip to celebrate our attendance success &#8211; well done Year 3!We arrived at Seven Stories and spent sometime in the gallery exploring the interactive exhibits. <p>We know that all of our parents and carers have very busy lives and can often find it difficult to get to libraries or bookshops to buy books for themselves. We have therefore created a Parent Library in the reception area. There are a variety of books which have been kindly donated by parents and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last week Reception class had a special delivery of eggs from the &#8216;Living Egg&#8217; Project. The eggs were kept in an incubator until we welcomed six chicks to our class! The children have observed the changes in the chicks carefully and supported them in their knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of a chicken, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class loved our focus book Handa&#8217;s Surprise! As part of our learning the children worked in groups to sequence the story, developing their team work and comprehension skills: The children had the opportunity to taste the seven delicious fruits in the story: Using this experience the children were then able to write sentences to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have all had a brilliant day celebrating World Book Day in school. The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, or simply in clothes they feel comfortable reading in. Thank you to all of our parents who came along to our Stay and Read sessions this morning, it was lovely to see children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week our Nursery children celebrated the 25th anniversary of World Book Day with a variety of events in school to promote reading. The children were invited to come into school dressed either in clothes they like to wear while reading or as their favourite book character. We launched a &#8216;story in a box&#8217; competition, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class have been learning about changes in winter and as part of this learning had some very special visitors in class! The children loved the hands on experience of handling different animals including snakes, spiders, rats, giant snails and cockroaches! The class learnt about how different animals survive in the winter, from hibernation to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have been learning all about different genres of books during this half term. We enjoyed visiting our class and school Libraries and reading lots of different stories. We visited Church and looked at the different books that are used in Church. Father Shaun told us what all of the books are used for. [&hellip;]</p>
