Year 1 had a special visit from the author Kate Rolfe. She told the children her journey of becoming an author and said that it all began with her love for drawing and then she could add words that match with the pictures. Kate is dyslexic so it was lovely to hear about her story, her experience writing a story and how words appear on a page for her. Year 1 planned and had a class liturgy for the end of their Baptism topic in RE this week. We chose a reading from Mark's Gospel about Jesus' own Baptism and as a class, we danced a liturgical dance to the 'Our Father.' It was a lovely way to celebrate the end of our topic and remember and share our learning and think about how we could go forth and share the message with our families.

This term in art, we have been learning how to create different style lines and how to connect them to make different shapes. Our end goal was to draw different shapes to create a portrait inspired by the artist Paul Klee. We started by finding the shapes in a picture of ourselves and outlining them with a pen. Then, we copied the shapes onto a blank page, creating an abstract portrait similar to the work of Paul Klee.
