<p>As part of our Science work on Seasons and our on-going Eco project, Year 1 made bug hotels with Oscar from &#8216;The Nature Detective Company&#8217;. The hotels were made from wooden pallets filled with leaves to make a comfortable home for the insects in our St Lawrence&#8217;s garden. What a great day we had with [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of their Science work in Year 1 the children have been observing changes in the seasons. After collecting different kinds of fallen leaves from the trees in our school playground, the children went on to create hedgehog pictures using the leaves that they had collected as the hedgehog&#8217;s spikes. They were very pleased with the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The children in Year 1 were visited by Rob from Zoolab who came in to show us a range of animals to help us with our work in Science. We talked about different groups of animals and discussed some of their habits and what they eat. We got to hold a giant snail, a Madagascan [&hellip;]</p>

<p>After a democratic vote as part of our &#8216;British Values&#8217; week, our new School Councillors and Eco Squad were announced in assembly today.  We are looking forward to them being the voice of our school and ensuring that we continue to be as eco-friendly as possible. Congratulations to all new members!</p>

<p>Year 2 visited St Lawrence&#8217;s Park to help with the regeneration of St Lawrence&#8217;s Park in Byker. We helped to clear a large flower bed and we planted some seeds. We are looking forward to monitoring the growth of our seeds over the next few weeks.</p>

<p>Some of our children created some amazing posters to remind everyone in school how important it is for us to save energy. Congratulations to those who created our winning posters!</p>

<p>Our Eco Squad continue to remind us how important it is to save energy. They regularly check the school building and record the most energy efficient classrooms&#8230;.and the least! Make sure you are saving energy!</p>

<p>Some of our Eco Squad members made bird feeders for our garden. They mixed lard with bird seed and put the mixture into recycled yoghurt pots. When the mixture had set, they hung the feeders in our school garden. Our next project is to make a bug hotel so watch this space!</p>

<p>All of our children enjoyed a day dedicated to learning in the great outdoors. They had fun doing various art and craft activities using their wonderful surroundings. ti</p>

<p>Our Eco squad members have worked hard to improve our school environment. We learned that trees and plants produce oxygen which is good for everyone. And they are very pretty!!</p>
