<p>Check out some photos from our sharing and grouping maths lesson today. We are thinking about tricky remainders and using our times table knowledge.</p>

<p>We were so excited to have our first workshop with our friend Charlotte at Seven Stories today. We played some games to get to know Charlotte and to think about our favourite books. <p>Today we worked in small groups to consolidate our knowledge when working with multiples of ten. We completed worded and reasoning problems and used practical resources to count in tens. We challenged ourselves to think about multiples of ten beyond 120.</p>

<p>Today we were treated to a fantastic performance from KS1 Orchestra and the KS2 Composition Club. Both groups have only been running since the end of September and have worked extremely hard learning new skills such as playing the ukulele or glockenspiel, playing together as an orchestra and learning all about writing and composing music. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>For our second music afternoon we have been finding out about the film composer Danny Elfman. We listened to ‘Ice Dance’ from Edward Scissorhands and ‘What’s This?’ from The Nightmare Before Christmas which Elfman also sings on. We discussed how the music made us felt and listened to the music firstly without the accompanying movie [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last Friday we started making our Angel of the North replicas. We chose our own materials from a choice of bases (kitchen roll tubes, empty water bottles) and used a range of materials including tissue paper, cellophane and cardboard and various shades of paint.</p>

<p>We have changed our focal area into purple colours for advent. We have a kindness advent calendar and each child takes out a random act of kindness to try each day. We also all have a copy of the Cafod advent calendar which we are enjoying colouring in each day.</p>

<p>This morning we had lots of fun in Year 3 taking part in a Grouping and Sharing Carousel. This is to consolidate our knowledge when grouping and sharing before moving onto formal division next week. We grouped and shared lots of concrete objects such as toy dinosaurs, playing cards, counters and dominoes. We also looked [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have been continuing with our Year 3 key performance indicators in maths this week. This week we are revising time facts from Year 2. We matched up time facts cards, played minute past the hour dominoes and o’clock dice games.</p>

<p>We had another exciting experience today with Now Press Play. We experienced life as an alien visiting planet earth. We learnt all about the different types of rock on earth. We were even able to go backwards and forwards in time to see how rocks are formed.</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed a fabulous story writing workshop. We worked with a team of writers, illustrators, directors and playwrights to create our own story. We had such a wonderful time and impressed the editor! She even published our book!</p>

<p>Today we really got to know Mr Fox! We worked as a team to think of nouns, adjectives and similes to describe Mr Fox’s appearance, personality, family and interests. This will help us when planning a character description of him on Friday.</p>

<p>As part of our Music lessons this half term, we have been listening to Jazz and Blues. We listened to Louis Armstrong&#8217;s &#8216;What a Wonderful World&#8217;. We thought about the lyrics, listened to his unusual voice and the instruments used. We then went on the create our own large-scale wonderful world pictures based on what [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In Year 3, we are continuing to look at our maths key performance indicators. This week, we have been making sure we are confident with recognise place value up to 9,999. We did this by using dominoes and dice and working in groups. We each selected a domino, or rolled dice, to make the biggest [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Yesterday we learnt about the synagogue, the place of worship for people of the Jewish faith. After learning about the key features of the synagogue, today we designed our own synagogues in groups using large paper and pictures of the key features including; the Torah, Ark, Bimah, Yad, Rabbi and Tallit. <p>We had a wonderful day out at Broxfield farm with Mr Thompson. We felt the wheat in the field, found worms in the ground, visited calves, bulls and cows in the field and ground wheat to make flour. The highlight of our day was making our very own scarecrow!
