<p>Over the last few weeks, the Nursery children have thoroughly enjoyed looking after our caterpillars and watching them transform into butterflies! . They have observed the changes and learned all about the life cycle from an egg to a butterfly. We have read lots of non fiction and fiction books to help us, including &#8216;The [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Monday 3rd July, KS2 were very lucky to have the author James Harris join them for the day. The day started with an assembly and then Years 3, 4 and 5 took part in a workshop run by James. <p>Year 3 had a wonderful trip to Seven Stories this morning!It was a trip to celebrate our attendance success &#8211; well done Year 3!We arrived at Seven Stories and spent sometime in the gallery exploring the interactive exhibits. We then went up to the attic to enjoy story time with Charlotte. Finally, we enjoyed a [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We know that all of our parents and carers have very busy lives and can often find it difficult to get to libraries or bookshops to buy books for themselves. We have therefore created a Parent Library in the reception area. There are a variety of books which have been kindly donated by parents and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last week Reception class had a special delivery of eggs from the &#8216;Living Egg&#8217; Project. The eggs were kept in an incubator until we welcomed six chicks to our class! The children have observed the changes in the chicks carefully and supported them in their knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of a chicken, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class loved our focus book Handa&#8217;s Surprise! As part of our learning the children worked in groups to sequence the story, developing their team work and comprehension skills: The children had the opportunity to taste the seven delicious fruits in the story: Using this experience the children were then able to write sentences to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have all had a brilliant day celebrating World Book Day in school. The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, or simply in clothes they feel comfortable reading in. Thank you to all of our parents who came along to our Stay and Read sessions this morning, it was lovely to see children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week our Nursery children celebrated the 25th anniversary of World Book Day with a variety of events in school to promote reading. The children were invited to come into school dressed either in clothes they like to wear while reading or as their favourite book character. We launched a &#8216;story in a box&#8217; competition, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class have been learning about changes in winter and as part of this learning had some very special visitors in class! The children loved the hands on experience of handling different animals including snakes, spiders, rats, giant snails and cockroaches! The class learnt about how different animals survive in the winter, from hibernation to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have been learning all about different genres of books during this half term. We enjoyed visiting our class and school Libraries and reading lots of different stories. We visited Church and looked at the different books that are used in Church. Father Shaun told us what all of the books are used for. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>For the last two weeks, all of our KS1 and KS2 classes have been learning about poetry. They have written their own free verse poems and learnt how to perform poems using volume, rhythm, expression and actions. This afternoon, each class performed one of the poems and some children even read their own free verse [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We were so excited to have our first workshop with our friend Charlotte at Seven Stories today. We played some games to get to know Charlotte and to think about our favourite books. Charlotte read a beautiful story called ‘Not Just a Book,’ by Jean Willis and Tony Ross. We then made our own pieces [&hellip;]</p>
