<p>Year 2 are thrilled to be back at school with all of their friends. We have been making the most of the lovely weather, we have been working outside as much as possible! Outdoor maths! &nbsp; Reading our super poems outdoors! &nbsp; Outdoor snacks and lunch!</p>

<p>Year 2 have continued to work really hard during their time at home and they have been sending in some lovely photographs. This week we have been reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. All of our Literacy work this week has been linked to this text and the children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Well done to Year 2 for their hard work over the past two weeks. Here are some of the activities which the children have been completing; Fabulous Rainbows! Year 2 were asked to make a poster showing a message to their friends. Art work and model making. Literacy and Maths activities History work; finding out [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 were incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to see &#8216;Holes&#8217; at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle.  This is the text we have been studying this term.  This is what some children had to say about it&#8230; &#8216;The acting was excellent &#8211; I loved the characters.&#8217; &#8216;The funniest part was when Stanley was in [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 1 and Year 2 have completed a two week handwriting challenge to improve their handwriting. Well done to all boys and girls for their hard work. Prizes were awarded to 2 children from each class who had shown the biggest improvement.</p>

<p>Having read a number of texts from different eras (Shakespeare’s Macbeth, WWII Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol) we were keen to look at a more modern story to base our next unit of writing on. Holes, by Louis Sachar, is set in America at around the turn of the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Yesterday we began our new RE topic, Listening and Sharing. To explore our topic, we read and used drama to act out the story of &#8216;Stone Soup&#8217; using props. We discussed and thought about what it takes to be a good listener.</p>

<p>Each Friday after school, the children and families are welcome to stay for a story told by Megan, our Reader in Residence from Seven Stories. The children love this opportunity to share a story with their families &#8211; older and younger siblings are welcome too. A lovely way to end the week.</p>

<p>This week, we held our grand final of the St Lawrence&#8217;s Big Spell 2020.
