<p>We had so much fun yesterday creating our own Stone Age Cave art. We looked at examples from real Stone Age caves and thought about the different art materials Stone Age people would have had to use, they definitely would of made use of anything they had! We used oil pastels to get different colours [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Over the last week, the children have noticed some new signs around the KS1 and KS2 yards. We have new maps, maths displays and poems all around school. We hope they will inspire our pupils to become new geographers, scientists and poets!</p>

<p>We followed instructions and looked at photographs to create our one model of Stone Henge. We discussed the different features of the structure including the Altar Stone to wonder and explore reasons for building such a structure. We wondered how people during this time were able to carry such heavy stones.</p>

<p>The children enjoyed making poppies to celebrate Remembrance Day. Every class used a different medium and technique to create their poppies, which were all brought together to make a whole school art display in the school entrance.  Well done everybody, what a super effort!</p>

<p>Reception class loved learning about the season of autumn. They looked closely at the changes the environment and investigated autumn vegetables such as pumpkins. Everyone enjoyed our class trip to Jesmond Dene to hunt for signs of autumn and when we returned to school the children even used their super writing skills to label some [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception enjoyed learning about Bonfire night. They used art resources to create a bonfire whilst talking about how to keep safe, created their own firework pictures by copying patterns of fireworks in chalk on to black paper and they even showed off their blending skills by writing words such as &#8216;pop&#8217; to describe the sounds [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 graduated from University on Friday after an amazing week learning about WWII. The pupils really grabbed the opportunity to find out what life is like as a student, touring Newcastle University campus as well as presenting their projects in a lecture theatre. Dozens of family members turned up to see the children receive [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 had another brilliant day with Into University. We looked at some artefacts from World War 2 and thought about what they might have been used for. We put ourselves in the shoes of evacuees and thought about what we would take with us in our suitcase. We displayed some excellent teamworking skills by [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 started a week-long project about WWII as part of a scheme to encourage youngsters in the area to think about attending university when they are older.The Into University organisation runs homework clubs and works closely with schools across the country showing pupils what they can gain from getting a degree.Year 6 looked at [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 were immersed in our World War 2 history topic when Richard (“That History Bloke”) came to visit. Richard brought a number of primary sources from World War 2, which were based on the wartime experiences of a real North-Eastern family. We worked out the various jobs of the people that owned the artefacts [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited Broxfield Farm in Northumberland on Friday 21st October. This visit was part of our Geography work this term about making comparisons between Urban and Rural environments and with our Science work about growing and changing. We looked at the crops with Mr Thompson the farmer; We picked wheat and then we learnt [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have enjoyed a fabulous day today linking lots of areas of the curriculum together around the theme of Autumn. We started the day going for a nature walk around our school grounds and looking for signs of Autumn. We then came back to class and thought of lots of adjectives to describe Autumn. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In class we discussed how hard it was for Jewish people when Hitler took power in Germany in 1933.  He blamed them for lots of the problems in the country such as unemployment and people were so desperate that they believed him.  In 1935 he introduced the Nuremburg Laws.  The two main laws were: Jewish [&hellip;]</p>

<p>day we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class. [&hellip;]</p>
