<p>Year 6 had a fantastic 1st day as part of a week-long project with IntoUniversity Newcastle East. The scheme &#8211; in partnership with Newcastle University and Northumbria University &#8211; is designed to give children a glimpse into life at Further Education.  Year 6 are following an engineering syllabus this week, which includes a trip to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception have been learning about weight and capacity in maths. They have used lots of practical resources to explore and investigate. The children compared the weight of objects using balance scales and ordered container&#8217;s capacity whilst using fantastic mathematical language to describe. Well done Reception!</p>

<p>Year 2 have been solving problems about Shape,  Multiplication and Division using lots of different practical manipulatives this week.</p>

<p>We have enjoyed a busy few weeks in Nursery!  The children have learnt lots of new skills and taken part in a range of activities linked to our &#8216;All about me&#8217; and &#8216;Autumn&#8217; topics. We have read many stories but a particular favourite was &#8216;Leaf Man&#8217; by Lois Ehlert.   The children were introduced to printing [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 have been working so hard with their tables this half term. We have revised our 2s, 5s and 10s and started looking at our 3s. We have found division facts particularly challenging! In a recent test of these tables, children were able to earn stars on their own flower times tables tracker when [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The Nursery children enjoyed their first educational visit to Jesmond Dene! We explored the area for signs of Autumn and collected leaves of different colour, shape and size.  The children were excited to have snack in the woods before visiting the animals in Pets Corner.  Even the bus journey was a highlight!  A wonderful morning [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In Maths this week we have been using some new vocabulary such as &#8216;greater than&#8217; and &#8216;less than&#8217;. We were also introduced to the &#8216;greater than&#8217; and &#8216;less than&#8217; signs as well as &#8216;equal to&#8217; and have worked hard all week with lots of practical activities. We have really impressed our teachers with our clever [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Reception have been exploring sorting and comparing amounts using the language of more and fewer. The children were also keen to practise their counting and subitising skills ( recognising how many without counting). Great Job Reception! Mrs Bickle and Mrs Heide</p>

<p>Last Term, our Nursery children enjoyed looking at Traditional Tale Stories.  We talked about the different characters and how each story has a beginning, middle and end.   We did lots of exciting activities linked to each story including making up our own characters,  choosing our own ending to the story and tasting yummy gingerbread men.  [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 have been producing some superb work this week from home! We have been looking at telling the time in maths, different word families in literacy, practising our 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s and 4s times tables and produced some imaginative writing about snowy and icy weather.Well done, Year 3! <p>This week a number of Year 1 pupils returned to school after a 12 week period of home learning. They were all so pleased to see some of their friends again and begin learning in school. Year 1 have completed some super Literacy and Maths activities in their Year 1  bubbles. Lots of our activities [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have continued to work really hard during their time at home and they have been sending in some lovely photographs. This week we have been reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. All of our Literacy work this week has been linked to this text and the children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Well done to Year 2 for their hard work over the past two weeks. Here are some of the activities which the children have been completing; Fabulous Rainbows! Year 2 were asked to make a poster showing a message to their friends. Art work and model making. Literacy and Maths activities History work; finding out [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 invited their parents into class today to take part in a workshop about multiples. We counted out a hundred of a variety of items and then counted the items into multiples of; ten, five and two. We used what we learnt to solve a number of problems.</p>

<p>Year 1 and Year 2 have taken part in an exciting Maths Challenge during this half term. We have all been working on improving our scores on Hit The Button. We worked on number bonds and on times tables. Every child improved their scores during the 6 week period. Some children were awarded prizes for [&hellip;]</p>
