<p>Today Year 3 displayed excellent behaviour and respect during our Remembrance Service lead by Mrs Maxwell with music from Miss McDonnell. We also enjoyed making our own poppies this week which we decorated using oil pastels. They will be part of a whole school display! <p>Year 3 have worked really hard this afternoon sorting rocks into the following groups; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. We considered the properties of each rock and discussed in groups to help us to sort. It has been lots of fun to do practical jobs around this topic.</p>

<p>Today we looked at comic strips to learn about how onomatopoeia can be used to bring a piece of writing to life. We then acted out our own scenarios using onomatopoeia speech and effects bubbles – like we were living in our own cartoon or comic strip! Onomatopoeia are words that are also sounds eg. <p>Today we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class.</p>

<p>Today we lead and presented Mass in church for the very first time. Our reading of the day was from Ephesians 1:1-10. All readers read beautifully and the whole class represented our school wonderfully.</p>

<p>Prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now and to celebrate World Mental Health Day we all came together as a school to support the charity &#8216;Young Minds&#8217; by wearing something yellow to school for &#8216;Hello Yellow&#8217; on Friday.  We wanted to encourage the children to think about happy thoughts and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Science Week 2020 got off to a series of bangs at St Lawrence&#8217;s with a special assembly. It was hosted by friend of the school Technology Tom with the help of children Reception all the way up to Year 6. <p>Yesterday we started Lent by taking part in a Ash Wednesday Liturgy in school. The school and parishioners joined together to pray. Everyone received ashes. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; During the Liturgy we launched our Lenten focus for fund raising and prayer; we are planning a number of events to raise money to build [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Yesterday we began our new RE topic, Listening and Sharing. To explore our topic, we read and used drama to act out the story of &#8216;Stone Soup&#8217; using props. We discussed and thought about what it takes to be a good listener.</p>

<p>Each Friday after school, the children and families are welcome to stay for a story told by Megan, our Reader in Residence from Seven Stories. The children love this opportunity to share a story with their families &#8211; older and younger siblings are welcome too. A lovely way to end the week.</p>
