<p>In Year 3 we are exploring ‘Forces and Magnets’ in Science this term. Today we had an activity carousel where we got to handle and use different types of magnets. We looked at: horseshoe magnets, button magnets and bar magnets. We looked at different metals that were attracted to magnets and which were not. We [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In Year 3, we have been enjoying reading Hansel and Gretel by Anthony Browne. We split the story into three parts; the beginning, the middle and the ending. We have discussed in small groups the features of a fairytale and how Browne’s version also includes these conventions. Over this topic, we have developed our skills [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We all enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch on Tuesday. A big thank you to Gillian our cook, the kitchen staff and the dinner ladies. &nbsp;</p>

<p>On Wednesday 11th December, children from Year 4, 5 and 6 entertained residents of St Joseph&#8217;s retirement home. We have visited the home in the summer term and spring term and it was a pleasure as always to be back. Miss McDonnell conducted the school orchestra which consists of children in Year 4, 5 and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we discussed the 2019 General Election in Year 3 and even had our own election! We discussed the topic of democracy and what it meant to have the right to vote. We looked at the three main policies and looked at child friendly versions of each manifesto. We watched reports from Newsround which showed [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we did a fractions carousel in Year 3. We were thinking about how fractions can equally split a shape or an amount. We used pool noodles, pizza fractions, cake fractions and fraction cubes and even shared sweets among some minions! We thought about different ways of showing equivalent fractions.</p>

<p>We had so much fun today creating our own Stone Age Cave art. We looked at examples from real Stone Age caves and thought about the different art materials Stone Age people would have had to use, they definitely would of made use of anything they had! We crushed different berries to get different colours [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 had a wonderful time today at Broxfield farm in Northumberland. We started the day by feeding some cows and learning different facts, including different types and names of cows. We then ventured into the fields and saw learnt how a combine harvester cuts the ears of wheat ready to be processed. We had [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our KS2 choir and orchestra had a wonderful time this morning performing for the residents of St Joseph&#8217;s. The children have been working very hard since Easter, rehearsing during lunchtimes and after school to produce a tribute concert to &#8216;Stage and Screen.&#8217; They performed songs from films and musicals such as ,The Greatest Showman, Annie, [&hellip;]</p>
