<p>Our KS2 choir and orchestra had a wonderful time this morning performing for the residents of St Joseph&#8217;s. The children have been working very hard since Easter, rehearsing during lunchtimes and after school to produce a tribute concert to &#8216;Stage and Screen.&#8217; They performed songs from films and musicals such as ,The Greatest Showman, Annie, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Well done to our bike winners who won our termly award for Outstanding Attendance over the course of the term. They were two very worthy winners pictured here with Rob Ford of The Cycle Centre in Shields Road who is a great friend of our school.</p>

<p>Year 3 have worked especially hard this year putting together their very own production, ‘Polynesian Performance.’ We have been studying the Hawaiian Islands as a part of our Volcanoes humanities studies, which the children have really enjoyed. The piece combines dance, music and drama in a retelling of a traditional Polynesian creation story. All children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed another trip back to visit Mr Thompson at Broxfield farm. It was amazing to see how the farm has changed and developed through the seasons since our last visit in October. We enjoyed a tractor ride through a field of cows and then made magical woodland creatures in the forest in the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Monday 1st April, Choir and Orchestra performed a concert of Disney pieces. The Choir and Orchestra, comprising of children from Year 3 -Year 6 performed songs from films including, &#8216;The Little Mermaid, &#8216;The Jungle Book,&#8217; &#8216;Tangled,&#8217; &#8216;Pete&#8217;s Dragon,&#8217; Moana&#8217;, and &#8216;Mary Poppins.&#8217; The Orchestra and Choir performed twice today, for parents and also for [&hellip;]</p>

We prayed for our Lenten prayer intentions and thought about how we can use prayer to have a conversation with God. We sang ‘Give Me Joy in My Heart,’ and ‘Colours of Day.’ All readers read beautifully and represented [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This year for Lent we have decided to pray for the people of Bangladesh who have recently suffered from a drought which has left their rivers without any fish to farm and sell. We have been looking at the story of Mahinur who sells the fish and who has been suffering at this difficult time. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a day of Christmas crafts day on Thursday 13th December. We made a variety of glittery Christmas crafts and had a fun day.</p>

<p>Year 2 met their penpals from Belsay Primary School today for the first time. This is part of a school Linking Project linking rural and city schools. The children have exchanged letters and postcards and today we met for the first time. We played lots of &#8216;Getting to know you games&#8217; We then split into [&hellip;]</p>

<p>To celebrate the end of The Year of Mercy The St Lawrence&#8217;s Mini Vinnies led a whole school collection of school bags and supplies for the charity: Mary&#8217;s Meals. We collected 24 backpacks in total. Well done this was an excellent effort and the back packs are now parcelled up and sent off to Africa.</p>

<p>Today we had a day in school where we learnt about different aspects of Judaism. Year 2 learnt about Shabbat. We made information leaflets about Shabbat. In the afternoon we had our own Shabbat feast. We ended the day in the hall hearing what every class had been doing on Judaism day. We all learnt such [&hellip;]</p>
