<p>&nbsp; Year 1 spent a fabulous day learning all about plants and trees at Northumberland Park.     </p>

<p>Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 got a lovely  surprise after lunch today; the Easter bunny had  visited school and had hidden some Easter eggs! We all had a great time hopping around the yard like bunnies to look for them. What a lovely end to our Spring Term! &nbsp;</p>

<p>We were pleased to welcome back The Vineyard Church last week for our fifth annual Prayer Spaces. The week was a beautiful spiritual week around the I am statements said by Jesus. The children were involved in a number of creative activities linked to the statements, joined by parents and parishioners. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Year 2 enjoyed experimenting with snow. We had a competition to make the roundest snowball. We made miniature snow people! We made snow castles. We then observed how long it took for our creations to melt.</p>

<p>In a few weeks time, Year 5 will be visiting Matfen Farm in Northumberland to see lambing in progress. Mr. Thompson, the farmer, visited our class today to talk to us about life on the farm, jobs that farming creates, how crops are grown and how animals are reared. Mr. Thompson brought in some wheat, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of our Design Technology topic, Year 5 designed and made a toy with moving parts. The children learnt about all the different parts inside a moving toy, and the movement they would create. Pupils then designed a polar scene as the front of their toy, and watched with joy as their polar animals [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have finally won the weekly school attendance award for having a fantastic score of 99.2% attendance this week. Mr. Brown treated us to a choc ice for our efforts! Well done Year 2 keep it up! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Year 2 had great fun playing in the snow. We thought of lots of adjectives to describe Winter and snow and we wrote acrostic poems. We also painted some beautiful snowy pictures.</p>

<p>On Tuesday 5th December St Lawrence&#8217;s held a service of light to remember those in our families who have died. During November we have had a Tree of Light in our school hall where staff and children have added names of their loved ones who have passed away. <p>Key Stage 1 children take part in an Open The Book drama every Tuesday. This week our Open The Book friends told the story of the very first Christmas. Afterwards we prayed together . This is part of our Advent preparations; we are getting ready for the coming of Jesus on Christmas day. &nbsp; &nbsp; [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited The Toby Carvery to take part in a Science workshop. We learnt lots of things about healthy eating and sampled lots of fruits and vegetables. We helped to prepare some of the food and then we chose our lunch. We had a fantastic morning and we learnt such a lot. Full tummies!</p>

<p>Year 2 invite all parents to their weekly workshop. Each week parents work alongside their child working on different areas of the curriculum.</p>
