<p>&nbsp; Year 2 boys and girls have been making some lovely Easter crafts whilst they have been at home. What creative children we have in Year 2! Happy Easter to all at St Lawrence&#8217;s From Mrs Hagon and Year 2 &nbsp;</p>

<p>Well done to Year 2 for their hard work over the past two weeks. Here are some of the activities which the children have been completing; Fabulous Rainbows! Year 2 were asked to make a poster showing a message to their friends. Art work and model making. Literacy and Maths activities History work; finding out [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 were incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to see &#8216;Holes&#8217; at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle.  This is the text we have been studying this term.  This is what some children had to say about it&#8230; &#8216;The acting was excellent &#8211; I loved the characters.&#8217; &#8216;The funniest part was when Stanley was in [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of our music curriculum this term, we have been focusing on the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda, in particular his use of Hip-Hop music in his musicals, Hamilton and In the Heights. Mr O visited us to help us explore the genres further through the use of Garage Band. We began by using the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In Year 3, we have been enjoying reading Hansel and Gretel by Anthony Browne. We split the story into three parts; the beginning, the middle and the ending. We have discussed in small groups the features of a fairytale and how Browne’s version also includes these conventions. Over this topic, we have developed our skills [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Tuesday Key Stage 1 enjoyed a wonderful day making a variety of super Christmas crafts. It was a great day and we practised all of our art skills.</p>

<p>Year 6 had an incredible time creating their own music with instruments from around the world &#8211; thanks to a series of apps on their ipads. The pupils were able to compose, improvise and design using a huge range of software instruments, synthesisers, and digital audio workstations. <p>Yesterday The Shipley Art Gallery visited Year Two . Year 2 enjoyed taking part in two fantastic workshops about portraits. We learnt all about the artist; Picasso and his abstract approach to making portraits and we had a try at this style. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Year 2 visited The Laing Art Gallery today. We took part in a workshop in The Portrait Gallery looking at the stories and emotions behind the paintings. We made some large pictures depicting the story of Jack and The Beanstalk. We had a wonderful day.  </p>

<p>Reception class, Year 1 and Year2 had a fantastic musical experience at The sage today. We met up with a number of other schools to take part in The Big Sing &nbsp; We have been practising a number of songs around the theme of Going A Journey. for around 2 months now. <p>We had a creative morning workshop with an artist from the Laing Art Gallery. We worked closely with the artist; learning new artistic skills crucial to creating print inspired by Thomas Bewick’s designs. We took inspiration from African emblems, creating our own design and transferring it to make a stamp like print. These prints are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed an Easter egg decorating  completion. We had some amazing entrants and we all enjoyed looking at the fabulous eggs.</p>
