<p>KS2 Choir and Orchestra have been rehearsing since the end of October to bring some Christmas cheer through music over the festive period. Children in Orchestra have learned to play the glockenspeil, even learning to read standard notation. Choir is bigger than ever this year, with children from Year 3,4, 5 and 6 involved. <p>Last week was our Autumn Music Week Across school. In all classes, we covered Listening and Appreciation, listening and responding to particular greats and legends of different genres of music. It gave the children the opportunity to listen to and respond to varied music they may not normally listen to.</p>

<p>Mr Olatunji came into school with his ipads and helped Year 6 compose their own music that conveyed different types of emotion.  He highlighted the incredible work of Hans Zimmer, who has been responsible for scores from films such The Lion King, Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean.  We used loops and instrument effects to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our KS2 Orchestra had a wonderful performance on Tuesday afternoon where we celebrated music from the 1980s! We have worked so hard on this concert, with all members reading printed sheet music for the first time! Our audience were captivated and sang along!</p>

<p>Over the last few weeks, the Nursery children have thoroughly enjoyed looking after our caterpillars and watching them transform into butterflies! . They have observed the changes and learned all about the life cycle from an egg to a butterfly. We have read lots of non fiction and fiction books to help us, including &#8216;The [&hellip;]</p>

<p>For the last 3 years, our Key Stage pupils have been having a 45 minute French lesson every week. In these lessons, they learn the vocabulary, grammar and phonics of French. <p>Last week, we were visited by Teatre sans Frontiers- a theatre company that performs plays in other languages. We were amazed as the hall was transformed into a tropical island and some very interesting characters came to greet us! The children had a wonderful time watching the play and joining in in French.
