<p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. <p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. <p>We really enjoyed designing and making cards for the special ladies who look after us. We used basket cut outs as a base, adding paper flower buds in complimentary colours to create a bouquet. We used pearls as well as pink and silver diamante jewels to add sparkle to our cards. Happy Mother&#8217;s Day to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Wednesday, Year 3 had a fabulous workshop with local Liturgical Dance Company, More than Dance. We learnt a beautiful Liturgical Dance to The Risen Christ (Doxology) by Margaret Becker, Kristyn Getty and Joanne Hogg. This piece combined flowing dance sequences and British Sign Language. <p>We are really enjoying our Victorians topic in Humanities! Today we learnt all about a significant Victorian the inventor and engineer, George Stephenson. He is often called the ‘father of the railway,’ and was born locally in Northumberland. We opened up his suitcase and started to think about who he was and why he is [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we got involved in an exciting science workshop with Technology Tom! We explored magnetism to fit in with our current topic. Tom demonstrated a few different experiments to us that showed just how powerful magnets are! These demonstrations included; a magnet fishing game, a compass demonstration and a demonstration which showed how magnets attract [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Nursery and Reception Class celebrated World Book Day by focusing on the story &#8216;The Smeds and The Smoos&#8217; by Julia Donaldson &amp; Axel Scheffler.   The Nursery children dressed up in blue like the Smoo characters in the story and the Reception children dressed in red like the Smeds. <p>This year for World Book Day, Mrs Garforth looked at &#8216;Pugs of the Frozen North,&#8217; by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre. Each class from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 learnt a little bit about the fantastic story about Shen and Sika and a pug-pulled sleigh ride to the North Pole! We [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This morning we had a great workshop with Rosie from the Worry Wizard. We thought about how everyone has worries and we are not alone. We also thought about things we like to do to look after our Wellbeing, and how Wellbeing really means, ‘Being Well.’ Finally, we discussed activities we like to do that [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today, Year 2 and Year 3 had their final rehearsals with Miss Oldfield and performed in the hall for an audience! Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 watch us perform the pieces we have been learning, ‘Dona Nobis Pacem,’ and ‘Come Ye Sons of Art.’ It was a wonderful opportunity to perform for our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of our music curriculum this term, we have been focusing on the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda, in particular his use of Latin music in his musical, In the Heights. Mr O visited us to help us explore the genres further through the use of Garage Band. We began by listening to music from [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of our RE topic on Islam, Nursery have been learning about prayer mats. We made our own mats using scissors to cut a fringe and then paints to create some beautiful patterns. Well done Nursery, what a fantastic effort!</p>

<p>For our new RE topic, we are thinking about Listening and Sharing in relation to the Eucharist. To begin our topic, the children worked in groups to perform the story of ‘Stone Soup.’ We discussed the themes of the story and the advantages of listening and sharing.</p>

<p>We have had a fantastic time learning about Chinese New Year! We learnt about the country of China, and located it on a map of the world. We learnt about Chinese culture, played with Chinese Tangrams (jigsaws) and finally learn about the classic story of the Race of the Animals. We had so much fun [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Reception have enjoyed exploring our key text Handa&#8217;s Surprise. They used cooking tools to prepare the fruit themselves and loved tasting the fruit! They then used the experience to complete some fantastic writing to describe the fruit! Well done Reception!</p>

Every Tuesday, a music specialist from the Cathedral will visit school to deliver a thirty minute singing session in class. We welcomed Miss Oldfield, a chorister from the cathedral to lead us in [&hellip;]</p>
