<p>Today we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class.</p>

<p>This term Nursery have been focusing on traditional tales.  So far we have covered Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man. <p>Yesterday we began our new RE topic, Listening and Sharing. To explore our topic, we read and used drama to act out the story of &#8216;Stone Soup&#8217; using props. We discussed and thought about what it takes to be a good listener.</p>

<p>As part of our work on &#8216;Celebrations&#8217; the Reception children find out about the celebration of Chinese New Year. We had a workshop led by the staff from the Durham Museum service. He helped us reenact the story of the Great Race from which all the different animals from the Chinese Zodiac are taken. We [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Since January, children in Year 3 have been working independently at home on a project of their own chosen subject about the Victorian era. They chose a topic, researched it and produced a fact file. The project could be about anything; schools, medicine, the royal family, food, hospitals&#8230;even football! <p>In Year 3, we have been enjoying reading Hansel and Gretel by Anthony Browne. We split the story into three parts; the beginning, the middle and the ending. We have discussed in small groups the features of a fairytale and how Browne’s version also includes these conventions. Over this topic, we have developed our skills [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Wednesday 11th December, children from Year 4, 5 and 6 entertained residents of St Joseph&#8217;s retirement home. We have visited the home in the summer term and spring term and it was a pleasure as always to be back. Miss McDonnell conducted the school orchestra which consists of children in Year 4, 5 and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful day today at the Hancock Museum for both our humanities and science topics. For science we explored the precious gemstones section of the museum and also enjoyed a rocks and minerals workshop. For humanities we explored the early prehistoric section  of the museum and completed activities relating to Stone Age to [&hellip;]</p>
