<p>Today we made our own healthy lunch wraps! We worked in groups to taste and evaluate the ingredients on offer. We thought about which foods we already like, and which foods we might want to try. We thought about choosing a combination of foods to create a healthy wrap. We then created our own healthy [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 1 children are delighted with their new outdoor area and have had so much fun playing with all of their new equipment. They have loved exploring the different activities available, including sand, water, chalk, small world, construction and reading. It has created such a happy and positive learning environment.             </p>

<p>We had our first Liturgy in Year 2 today. We are thinking about Beginnings. We have lots of new Beginnings when we are growing up and we thought about them and discussed them. <p>KS2 Choir and Orchestra performed a wonderful celebration of Disney music for friends and family. They were conducted by Miss Hedley and either sang or played ukulele. They finished with joyous sing-a-long encore of ‘Hakuna Matata.’ All musicians performed beautifully. <p>We had a fantastic day at the Shipley Art Gallery. We took park in two workshops creating our own materials. Firstly, we made our own piece of felt using different colours of wool and soapy water. We then made our own mosaic tiles using clay. It was interesting to compare and contrast materials, thinking about [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 had a wonderful trip to Seaton Delaval Hall. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to visit a National Trust property. We all day outside in the grounds, spending the morning in the allotment. It was great to get our hands dirty as we did some gardening. We spent some time digging [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Before half term, Year 2 had a very exciting trip to the Laing Art Gallery. We finally got to meet our penpals from Belsay School. We met up with our penpals and did some activities in the gallery with them. This involved some circle time games and producing some art together. It was magical to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have had lots of fun this week designing, making and evaluating their own felt pouches this week in Design and Technology. We firstly practised running stitches on paper and then on a scrap piece of felt. Secondly we progressed onto sewing two templates together to make our pouch. We then designed a motif [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a fantastic day at the Discovery Museum today. We took part in two workshops. Firstly, a workshop all about The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead. Fran, our leader at the museum, told us the story and we acted it out with noises and actions. We even took part in a puppet show [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We each planted a sunflower seed today. We had to think about what our sunflowers will need to grow and flourish. We decided that they need water, sunlight and warmth. Four sunflowers will not have access to these vital things. One sunflower will go in the fridge (no warmth), one will not have soil, one [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today, Year 2 gathered with schools all across Newcastle at the Civic Centre to perform our own version of Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute.’ We performed the songs we have been rehearsing, ‘Tamino’s Aria, ‘Walk on Tiptoe, ‘Hm Hm Hm,’ and ‘Papageno’s Aria.’ In addition, we also learnt ‘The Trials Begin,’ and ‘Pa Pa Pa,’ with [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful Now Press Play experience today! We ventured into one of the continents we have studied – The Arctic! We had to think about survival and thought about how it was different to our own continent of Europe.</p>

<p>For our DT topic this year, we have been designing and making a chair for baby bear. To make baby bear’s chair we used paper, tape and card. We had to ensure the chair legs were strong and stable and the same length. We also decorated our chairs to make them eye catching. We presented [&hellip;]</p>

There are thousands and thousands of books in the world but this week we will be thinking about a special collection of 73 books which make the Bible! <p>Today we role played the Gospel of Matthew 3:13-17, the story of John the Baptist. We realised we had kind of met John before, when we learned The Visitation story before Christmas, and John&#8217;s mum Elizabeth was pregnant at the same time as Mary was with Jesus! <p>We are really excited in Year 2 as we are starting a project with The Royal Opera House! For our first lesson, we were introduced to the world of opera, as well as some of the characters from The Magic Flute. <p>KS1 have spent this half term learning and rehearsing the Christmas play, ‘The Little Red Robin.’ Every child had a role, either with lines to learn, a dance to perform and songs to sing.
