<p>Year 2 took a trip to Broxfield Farm where we learned all about the countryside from the local farmer; Mr. Thompson. <p>Last week we were excited to try the different fruits featured in ‘Handa’s Surprise!’ We tried: avocado, orange, pineapple, passionfruit, bananas mangos and guava juice! &nbsp;</p>

<p>We have produced our own volcano art using tiny pieces of volcanic coloured tissue paper (red, yellow, orange and white for smoke). With a gold pen outline, we traced the shape of our volcanic mountain onto black paper to show a contrast of colours.</p>

<p>In Geography we are studying Extreme Earth (Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Tornados). This week we looked at Volcanoes and even recreated our own volcano eruption! Miss O&#8217;Hare demonstrated a volcano eruption by mixing baking powder, red food colouring and vinegar. It was very exciting! &nbsp;</p>

<p>As part of our Science topic on Plants, Year 5 were given the opportunity to dissect lilies. We have been learning about reproduction in plants and found out that a flower has both male and female parts. All living things need to make more of themselves so that their species does not die out. Reproduction [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In History this term, we have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians.  This week we focused on the process of mummification! Mummification is a complicated (and sometimes disgusting!) process, which involves preparing and preserving a body for the afterlife.  It is fascinating! In class, we wrote and illustrated each step to demonstrate our understanding of [&hellip;]</p>

<p>&nbsp; As part of our Humanities module &#8216;Changing Jobs&#8217; Year 4 took part in a Zoom workshop with the Discovery Museum about Shipbuilding on the River Tyne. We learned all about the different parts of a ship&#8230; Heard the sounds of a shipyard&#8230; Had a go at being a Riveter (this is Mr Moore&#8217;s try). [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Friday we made our Angel of the North replicas. to finish off our Geography topic comparing the North East to London. We designed the replicas last week, thinking about the intent of our models and how someone might buy one for decoration or how a smaller version could be made even as a Christmas [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We created a whole school art display to celebrate Remembrance Day and brighten up the exterior of our school. Every child in school created their own poppy using a range of media and techniques.  The Nursery children made collage poppies using assorted paper and pva glue, they also experienced print making for the first time [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today Year 3 displayed excellent behaviour and respect during our Remembrance Service lead by Mrs Maxwell with music from Miss McDonnell. We also enjoyed making our own poppies this week which we decorated using oil pastels. They will be part of a whole school display! <p>Year 3 have worked really hard this afternoon sorting rocks into the following groups; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. We considered the properties of each rock and discussed in groups to help us to sort. It has been lots of fun to do practical jobs around this topic.</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class.</p>
