<p>On Tuesday afternoon, Year 5 Nurture Group braved the woods in torrential rain. We looked at den building skills. Pupils were very motivated to get their dens up and take shelter underneath them. The group were amazingly resilient and build fantastic dens! &nbsp;</p>

<p>In Year 5 Nurture Group we have been exploring different habitats through activities and play. This week we went pond dipping, climbed trees and played games. We had a great time!</p>

<p>This week, Year 4 Nurture Group have been working with local gardeners to plant Spring bulbs in the Key Stage 1 and Reception garden. Whilst planting snowdrops, the children were learning about the different parts of a plant and their functions. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Years 3 and 4 had a wonderful time at our Lower Key Stage 2 Christmas Party this afternoon. We danced, played games and had some lovely party food &#8211; but most importantly we had a great time celebrating all of our hard work this term with our friends.</p>

<p>In their French lessons, Year 6 have been writing to their penpals in Paris with Madame Hewson. The letters are currently winging their way to Paris and we are excited to get our replies in the new year.</p>

<p>This half term, Nurture Group have been learning about hibernation. We have been learning about why animals hibernation, which ones hibernate and exactly what hibernation is. Did you know for example, that frogs hibernate at the bottom of ponds over Winter? In response, the children have been creating stunning watercolour sunsets with their chosen hibernating [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week, Nurture Groups in Years 4 and 5 have been producing stunning Autumn sunsets in watercolour. The animals silhouetted against the sunset are all creatures that hibernate in the UK. Well done Nurture Group!</p>

<p>This week Early Years and KS 1 have been celebrating Mrs Mcweeny&#8217;s long career in teaching and her 10 years at St Lawrence&#8217;s. She has been much loved by staff and children alike and will be missed greatly but we wish her a happy and healthy retirement. She will always be a part of our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Nurture Group from Year 3 and Year 4 had a fabulous afternoon out to Scotswood Community Garden, where they took part in pond-dipping, learnt about bees and pollination and went on a mini-beast hunt! The children were beautifully behaved and an absolute credit to the school and their families.</p>

<p>Last week, the whole school celebrated Languages Day. The theme was food from French speaking countries which made everyone happy! Natalie Paris, a French story-teller performed stories in French to the children, there was a pop-up French cafe in school and each class enjoyed watching a film in French. It was a fantastic day full [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week, Mrs.Villalobos needed help constructing a wheelbarrow which arrived flat-packed much to her dismay. Cohen came to rescue and single-handedly put the wheelbarrow together. Thank you Cohen!</p>
