<p>KS2 Choir and Orchestra have been rehearsing since the end of October to bring some Christmas cheer through music over the festive period. Children in Orchestra have learned to play the glockenspeil, even learning to read standard notation. Choir is bigger than ever this year, with children from Year 3,4, 5 and 6 involved. <p>To further our learning on rocks and fossils, Year 3 visited the Great North Museum. There we saw an amazing selection of rocks and gemstones. This reminded us of our learning of metamorphic rocks and how they are created. We saw dinosaur fossils and thought about how they were created. We even got time to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 pupils graduated on Friday after a week long course of activities centered around WWII, The children started the day with a tour of Newcastle University campus before presenting  group talk to their families in the Old Library. The children had studied about WWII heroes Anne Frank, Billy Strachan, Alan Turing and Violette Szabo. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in geography we have been drawing maps of the classroom. To do this we used a key with symbols representing the different areas of the classroom. These included: home corner, reading corner, red table, blue table, green table and teacher’s desk. We began by moving large versions of the symbols around on the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful visit from the Teddy Bear Hospital this afternoon! The Teddy Bear Hospital is made up of medical students from Newcastle University. We took part in four different activities: healthy eating and exercise, inside my body, sensory play and what to expect at the doctors or hospital. We arranged the internal organs [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had an amazing trip to Mr Thompson’s farm, Broxfield, near Alnwick. We started off our trip by exploring our way through his brand new pumpkin patch. It was fascinating to see the seeds inside a pumpkin and to find out how they grow. We then visited the cows in their shed. We learnt that [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had an exciting workshop today with Kevin from the Laing Art Gallery. We looked at the famous artist Pablo Picasso and interpreted some of his portraits. <p>This morning, we were very lucky to experience a Mock Baptism at St Lawrence’s Church with our Parish Priest, Father Shaun. It was such an amazing experience, not only to see the Baptism but also to have time in church to talk to Father Shaun and ask him questions. Hetty and Johan played the roles [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last week was our Autumn Music Week Across school. In all classes, we covered Listening and Appreciation, listening and responding to particular greats and legends of different genres of music. It gave the children the opportunity to listen to and respond to varied music they may not normally listen to.</p>

<p>We are so excited to get started with our new Maths scheme: Mastering Number next week in Year 2! Today we got to use our brand new rekenreks! We learnt how to hold and reset them properly, and we even had a go at a couple of calculations. We are sure this scheme will improve [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We are really enjoying our first class reader in Year 2, ‘Lights on Cotton Rock,’ by David Litchfield. The story and illustrations area absolutely breath-taking! It’s all about a little girl called Heather who dreams of visiting aliens from outer space. Little does she know that what’s really important is right at home. We have [&hellip;]</p>

<p>On Monday we were very lucky to have a visit from Angela who works as an optician. She told us all about how to look after our eyes but also how to keep safe in the sun. We learnt about UVA and UVB rays and looked at a model of the inside of an eye. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 had a wonderful time today at Broxfield farm in Northumberland. It was amazing to go back to visit the farm in the summer to see how much it has changed since the Autumn. We started the day by going into the oat fields and even saw the beginning of Mr Thompson’s need batch [&hellip;]</p>
