<p>We created a whole school art display to celebrate Remembrance Day and brighten up the exterior of our school. Every child in school created their own poppy using a range of media and techniques.  The Nursery children made collage poppies using assorted paper and pva glue, they also experienced print making for the first time [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class.</p>

<p>This week a number of Year 1 pupils returned to school after a 12 week period of home learning. They were all so pleased to see some of their friends again and begin learning in school. Year 1 have completed some super Literacy and Maths activities in their Year 1  bubbles. Lots of our activities [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have continued to work really hard during their time at home and they have been sending in some lovely photographs. This week we have been reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. All of our Literacy work this week has been linked to this text and the children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Well done to Year 2 for their hard work over the past two weeks. Here are some of the activities which the children have been completing; Fabulous Rainbows! <p>Year 2 took part in Day 2 of their 2 day: Building Bridges Science and Technology challenge.at The Discovery Museum. We learnt all about the History of the bridges on the River Tyne. &nbsp; We then built on our skills learnt yesterday about the strength of materials and completed two experiments about building strong bridges [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 1 had a fabulous day at the Discovery Museum learning about toys from the past. They were amazed that some toys were 100 years old!</p>

<p>Year 2 visited Wor Lotty yesterday. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; .We enjoyed  tasting lots of different kinds of fruits and vegetables. We looked at the plants which we had planted last time that we were at the allotment. &nbsp; We collected lots of ladybirds but we left them at the allotment at the end of the day! We also enjoyed wedding the paths in the allotment. We collected so many weeds! We are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a creative morning workshop with an artist from the Laing Art Gallery. We worked closely with the artist; learning new artistic skills crucial to creating print inspired by Thomas Bewick’s designs. We took inspiration from African emblems, creating our own design and transferring it to make a stamp like print. These prints are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited their penpals at Belsay School in Northumberland as part of our Geography curriculum this term. &nbsp; We had a fantastic day with our friends from Belsay and had an exciting time playing in their outdoor area. We made some advice jars to take back to school and some fish. What an amazing day, we can&#8217;t wait to meet up with our friends again very soon. &nbsp;</p>

<p>This term, Year 5 have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians.  They lived in Egypt from 3100BC to 30BC, over 3000 years!  As part of our topic work, we visited the Great North Museum and took part in a workshop about the different jobs Ancient Egyptian people could have.  We learnt that there were [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited St Lawrence&#8217;s Park to help with the regeneration of St Lawrence&#8217;s Park in Byker. We helped to clear a large flower bed and we planted some seeds. We are looking forward to monitoring the growth of our seeds over the next few weeks.</p>

<p>Year 4 have been working closely with the Heritage Lottery Fund over the last few months. As a parting gift, they have kindly provided us with a huge selection of books related to World War One.  There is a fantastic mix of fiction and non-fiction to add to our new library stock.  Many thanks to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited the Discovery Museum today. &nbsp; We enjoyed trying out all of the experiments in the Science Maze. After lunch we had a fun time  in the circus exhibition. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In the afternoon we took part in a history workshop about the Great Fire of Newcastle. We learnt all about life in Victorian times and we acted out the story of the fire.</p>

<p>Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic Japanese day as part of their topic looking at the Michael Morpurgo book ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. John, from the Oriental Museum in Durham, helped arrange a variety of activities such as origami and Japanese calligraphy.
