<p>As part of our WW2 topic this term, Year 6 went back in time to find out what it was like to be evacuated from a city to the countryside during the war. We were met by Farmer George and put straight to work, making carrot cookies, putting up the blackout on the windows and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful day today at the Hancock Museum for both our humanities and science topics. For science we explored the precious gemstones section of the museum and also enjoyed a rocks and minerals workshop. For humanities we explored the early prehistoric section  of the museum and completed activities relating to Stone Age to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had so much fun today creating our own Stone Age Cave art. We looked at examples from real Stone Age caves and thought about the different art materials Stone Age people would have had to use, they definitely would of made use of anything they had! We crushed different berries to get different colours [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 had a wonderful time today at Broxfield farm in Northumberland. We started the day by feeding some cows and learning different facts, including different types and names of cows. We then ventured into the fields and saw learnt how a combine harvester cuts the ears of wheat ready to be processed. We had [&hellip;]</p>

<p>History man Richard came in with dozens of WWII objects and information to help us really understand what life was like for people living in Britain at the time. We looked at sources, from identity cards through to work objects, of three members of the Palmer family from Gateshead. The father was an Air Raid [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 visited Beanley Farm near Alnwick as part of our Geography work this term. We compared the environment with that of the city. &nbsp; &nbsp; We enjoyed collecting lots of different types of leaves. &nbsp; Robert; the shepherd told us all about how he looks after the 200 sheep on the Farm. Dennis the farmer and friend of the school Mr Thompson from the Country Trust showed us where the cows live, took us into the parlour to see the cows being milked and led us on a nature walk around the farm&#8217;s fields. Dennis the farmer and friend of the school Mr Thompson from the Country Trust showed us where the cows live, took us into the parlour to see the cows being milked and led us on a nature walk around the farm&#8217;s fields. <p>Year 1 had a fabulous day at the Discovery Museum learning about toys from the past. They were amazed that some toys were 100 years old!</p>

<p>Year 2 made their final visit to Wor Lotty today. We weeded the garden and did lots of watering of plants. However, the highlight of the visit was making pizzas in the outside pizza oven. At the end of the day we explored the woods and made dens.We had a great day and we were [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today Year 3 repeated their &#8216;Polynesian Performance&#8217; for the residents of St Joseph&#8217;s retirement home in Elswick. The children behaved wonderfully and were a credit to themselves and the school. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Well done, Year 3!</p>

<p>Year 3 have worked especially hard this year putting together their very own production, ‘Polynesian Performance.’ We have been studying the Hawaiian Islands as a part of our Volcanoes humanities studies, which the children have really enjoyed. The piece combines dance, music and drama in a retelling of a traditional Polynesian creation story. All children [&hellip;]</p>
