<p>Last week it was lovely to be able to welcome our parents back into Nursery for our first Stay and Play session since Covid began!  We decided to also make it a celebration for Mother&#8217;s Day. The children loved having their mams and dads come to play with them at Nursery and they enjoyed showing [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Nursery and Reception Class celebrated World Book Day by focusing on the story &#8216;The Smeds and The Smoos&#8217; by Julia Donaldson &amp; Axel Scheffler.   The Nursery children dressed up in blue like the Smoo characters in the story and the Reception children dressed in red like the Smeds. <p>As part of our RE topic on Islam, Nursery have been learning about prayer mats. We made our own mats using scissors to cut a fringe and then paints to create some beautiful patterns. Well done Nursery, what a fantastic effort!</p>

<p>This week as part of Children&#8217;s Mental Health Week, Nursery have been learning about how we change and grow physically as well as emotionally. We listened to the story &#8216;Titch&#8217;  by Pat Hutchins and discussed all of the things that we can do now that we couldn&#8217;t do when we were babies.  We even thought [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in Nursery we have had fun celebrating Anti-Bullying week with the theme &#8216;One Kind Word&#8217;. We all wore odd socks to school on Monday to celebrate our differences.  The children enjoyed listening to the story &#8216;Simon&#8217;s Sock&#8217; by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet and they designed their own unique socks!  We discussed using [&hellip;]</p>

<p>There were smiles and laughter all around when our Nursery and Reception children visited the Northern Stage Theatre to see &#8216;The Three Bears&#8217;!  They watched and listened so well as the story was acted out and they had great fun dancing to the music and joining in with the actions.  What a wonderful day we [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The Nursery children enjoyed their first educational visit to Jesmond Dene! We explored the area for signs of Autumn and collected leaves of different colour, shape and size.  The children were excited to have snack in the woods before visiting the animals in Pets Corner.  Even the bus journey was a highlight!  A wonderful morning [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The Nursery children have enjoyed exploring our painting area.  They have used thick brushes and chosen from a range of coloured paints to create their first paintings which we have displayed in the classroom. We have some budding little artists in Nursery!</p>

<p>It was lovely to get to know all of our new nursery children by visiting them at home with their families.  They each enjoyed receiving their new book as a welcome gift. What an exciting year we are going to have with them all!</p>
